§Information we collect

When you create an account and use bsscConnect, we collect the information you provide and the minimum device data needed to run the conference app. All of it is used solely for app functionality:

  • Email address — used to create and sign in to your account.
  • Name and affiliation — your profile details (name, title, affiliation, bio, interests and links) shown to other attendees.
  • User ID — an account identifier that links your content and activity to your profile.
  • Photos or videos — your profile photo and any photos you share to the event album.
  • Other user content — community posts, comments, poster Q&A, poll votes and reactions you create.
  • Messages — direct messages and chats you send to other attendees.
  • Device ID — a push notification token (Expo push token), collected only if you enable notifications, so we can deliver them to your device.

§No tracking, no ads

All of the data above is linked to your account so the app can function; none of it is used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. bsscConnect contains no ads and no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or tracking.

§How we use your information

We use your information solely to operate the conference experience: showing your profile to other attendees, powering the agenda, networking, messaging, the community board, poster Q&A, the shared event album, live session features and the engagement leaderboard.

Notifications are only sent according to the preferences you set in Settings.

§Where your data is stored

Your data is stored using Supabase, our backend provider for authentication, database and file storage. Profile information and event content live in a managed Postgres database, and uploaded images are kept in Supabase Storage. Access is restricted by row-level security so attendees can only modify their own content.

§Content moderation, reporting and blocking

bsscConnect has a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior. You can report any post, comment, photo or message from within the app, and you can block any user to immediately hide their content and stop them from contacting you.

The organizers review reports within 24 hours, remove content that violates our standards, and eject users who post it.

§Sharing with other attendees

By design, your profile (name, title, affiliation, bio, interests and photo) is visible to other signed-in attendees so you can network during the event. Anything you post to the community board, messages or live sessions is shared with the relevant audience.

§How to delete your data

You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app: Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, uploaded photos, messages, saved agenda, connections, points and other personal data, and deletes your login. Some content you authored (for example public posts) may be retained in anonymized form so conversations remain coherent for others.

§Children's privacy

bsscConnect is intended for conference attendees and is not directed to children under 13.

§Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
